  Palletised Storage Systems

Selective Pallet Racking
The most common pallet racking found in warehouses,
allows access to all pallets and maximizes space. This
type of pallet racking is available in single and double
entry configurations and is easily adjustable.

Benefits:
  •  Direct access to all stored pallets
  •  The advantage of handling one pallet without the need to move others
  •  Easy stock control as each place is a one pallet position
  •  Absolute load storage flexibility, both in terms of weight and volume
  •  100% selectivity and accessibility of goods
  •  Floor Area Utilization: 30% (Low)

Double Deep Pallet Racking
This configuration of Selective Pallet Racking is better
for utilizing floor space, especially for moderate stock
levels. Double deep racking is created by placing two
double entry runs together. Pallets are stored two
deep and are accessed using special trucks with
pantograph of telescopic forks.

Benefits:
  • Greater use of floor space by reducing the number of access aisles
  • Increased storage capacity
  • Not suitable for rapid stock rotation, the first pallet in is the last pallet out
  • 50% selectivity and accessibility of goods
  • Floor Area Utilization: 50% (High)

Very Narrow Aisle Pallet Racking
Narrow aisle consists of the same basic components
as conventional racking, but with runs placed closer
together eliminating the wasted space of a wide aisle.
The pallets can be stored at a greater height to
maximize all available cubic space. The pallets are
accessed via specialist trucks, which are guided in
the very narrow aisles by either low or high profile
floor mounted rails or electronic wire guidance in the floor.

Benefits:
  • Configuration for maximum storage, density and efficiency
  • Good occupancy rates
  • Specialist narrow aisle fork-lift trucks are required to work in the reduced aisle
  • Better space utilization
  • 100% selectivity and accessibility of goods
  • Floor Area Utilization: 50% (High)

Drive In Pallet Racking
Drive in racking is used where high-density storage
is required. It is frequently in facilities with a low
number of product lines. Pallets are stored in a block
system with two blocks generally served by one
operating aisle. The trucks drive into the racking
to load or retrieve pallets, which are stored on
cantilevered rails running throughout the system.
The first pallet in is the last one out unless a
Drive-Through system is used, whereby pallets
can be loaded or retrieved from either side.
Benefits:
  • High density storage allowing greater number of pallets to be stored per cubic meter than other storage systems
  • Low stock rotation suitable for seasonal goods and fluctuating stock demand
  • Ideal for cold and chill storage and bulk storage applications
  • Suitable for easily damaged or fragile loads, which cannot be block stacked
  • 30% selectivity and accessibility of goods
  •  Floor Area Utilization: 60% (Highest)
